
Dr. David Perna D.C., C.C.E.P.
- Dr. David Perna is the Director of Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) for Back and Body Medical in Midtown Manhattan.
- He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University in October 1997, where he was on the Deans List and participated in a physical therapy internship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (affiliated with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey).
- He completed internships at JFK Medical Center in New Jersey, the John F. Kennedy Hartwyck Nursing and Convalescent Rehabilitation Centers, and the John F. Kennedy Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, where he focused on work-related injuries.
- Knowing that he wanted to work with patients to develop a better lifestyle, Dr. Perna worked as a Personal Trainer and became a certified Strength Coach and Personal Trainer through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA), and was certified as a Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise (ACE).
- Dr. Perna received his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the NSCA.
- He later attended Life University in Marietta, GA, graduating Summa Cum Laude as a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in March 2002. During his studies there he was awarded membership to the highly competitive and prestigious International Chiropractic Honors Society, Phi Tau Delta.
- In 2002-2003 Dr. Perna was director of Southerland Chiropractic in Smyrna, GA. During this period he continued his education and was awarded credentials as a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (C.C.E.P.) by the Council on Extremity Adjusting.
- Returning to New York in August 2006, he worked at a multi-specialty clinic and was certified by the National University of Health Sciences for Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA).
- In 2007, he obtained post-graduate certification to perform Nerve Conduction Velocity tests (NCV) and Electromyography (EMG) by the New York Chiropractic College.
- In 2010, Dr. Perna became certified in Active Release Techniques (ART) and in 2012 became full-body certified.
- In 2012, he also became certified to practice the Graston Technique.
- Dr. Perna has delivered lectures on cold laser therapy as well as electrotherapy to students at Long Island University and New York Chiropractic College.
- Among Dr. Perna’s patients are famous actors, directors, Broadway dancers, professional baseball players, marathon runners, triathletes, mixed martial artists, boxers and professional wrestlers.
