Physical Therapy NYC

Updated on: July 13, 2026

Back and Body Medical’s physical therapy team in Midtown Manhattan doesn’t work in isolation – your PT works directly alongside our chiropractors, medical doctors, and pain management specialists to build a treatment plan around what’s actually causing your pain, not just where it hurts.

We have a full on-site gym, which means your rehab exercises happen here, with a therapist watching your form and adjusting in real time – not assigned as homework from a printout.

We treat back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, auto accident and work injuries, and shoulder, hip and knee conditions. Every program is built specifically for you – your body, your goals, your timeline. Most new patients are seen within 24 hours.

We accept most major insurance plans, and a referral is rarely needed – call us at (212) 371-2000 or book online to get started.

Midtown Manhattan, New York City Physical Therapist Procedures

Initially, the physical therapist will examine the patient to understand the current condition. Then, the New York physical therapist will develop and implement a specialized treatment plan which will help reduce pain or strain, prevent further injury or disability, eliminate the need for potential surgery, improve and promote mobility, and or restore healthy function to a particular area or areas of the body.

Patients and PTs work together over a particular period of time, sometimes weeks or months, to help rehabilitate and treat the patient until they have reached the highest level of functionality possible. PTs also help many patients develop and implement fitness and wellness plans to foster a healthy, active lifestyle and prevent future injuries.

Our physical therapy NYC services incorporate many further treatments to assist with patient’s recovery, such as posture correction, custom stretches and rehab programs and more.

There are a variety of therapeutic procedures and physical exercise programs that PTs may employ to help treat individuals for their injuries or medical conditions. Depending on the level and severity of an injury or medical condition, some of these treatments may include but are not limited to:

  • Laser Therapy
  • Physical Exercise Programs
  • Chiropractic Therapy
  • Acupuncture Therapy
  • Ultrasound Therapy
  • Personalized Physical Therapy
  • Spinal Decompression
  • Flexion-Distraction Therapy

Knowing when to seek the care of a physical therapist is imperative to preventative and rehabilitative care for patients. Too often, individuals wait until the pain or injury has become unbearable, many times resulting in the need for surgery, or worse, causing irreparable permanent damage or a long-term disability. If you’ve suffered a work- or sports-related injury, or if your daily activities have been severely altered by pain and loss of mobility, you should seek the care a physical therapist.

Physical therapists will examine you and provide you hands-on, personalized care with compassion and knowledge. Through specialized, custom treatment plans created specifically to treat each patient’s needs, NYC Physical Therapists offer their patients care to help them achieve a level of functional independence and confidence that far exceeds their expectations.

The ultimate goal of a PT is to ensure their patients can live a pain-free, functional, and healthy lifestyle for a very long time.

We accept many insurance plans including United Health & Aetna insurance.

Such an awesome practice!! Back and Body helped me out so much during my NYC days as a theater and dance student. I was dancing and performing every day which put a lot of strain and stress on my body. Weekly visits really did so much for me. I love how they offer a multitude of different services and make extremely personal and tailored treatment plans to fit each patient's needs. Everyone there is so friendly too and it always put a smile on my face seeing my providers each week. Thanks for all the help!

I received a consultation from the owner, Dr. Khaira. She was so helpful, informative, and thorough in how she interpreted X-rays. Her warmth and kindness made this a wonderful experience. Also, a clean and organized facility. You won't be disappointed!

I was turned on to Back and Body by a friend I work with. We’re on our feet all day every day and when he told me how messed up his back is I couldn’t believe he could walk. I made an appointment right away for my knees and I’ve been going regularly since. I always get a warm welcome and Michaela (sp?) gives me acupuncture (she’s super nice). Then Maria comes in, loosens up my knee and stretches my leg out. I walk out ten years younger, though I sometimes feel the burn a day after a strengthening session, but hey that’s weakness leaving the body. Can’t say enough about this outfit. You should go. Just don’t tell too many people, I want to be able to schedule my weeklies.
