In this article, we will be discussing a study done recently on the Mulligan process, and why it is important to have an understanding and follow the directions of your chiropractor.
The Mulligan process is the treatment process we will be diving into today. It has been in existence for a long time now. It’s a simple and reachable way for patients to treat themselves from the comfort of their own home.
Let’s use the example of neck pain, headaches, and dizziness. When regarding these things, there are many things that patients can do to help themselves. It is always a good idea to get treatments like manipulation or mobilization from the chiropractor to get out of initial onset pain, but joint pains have a track record of loosening up, then tightening just like before. This is why it is so important to do exercises at home, which is just what the mulligan process is.
Mulligan mobilizations keep the muscles mobile, therefore preventing muscle tightening. It’s all in the name! Mulligan mobilizations are simple and easy to do at home, which makes them so great. They are safe, effective, and don’t require using expensive rehab equipment. Bingo!
As a chiropractic practice, we can help you by using manipulation in office to help get rid of your neck pain, but you still need to help yourself. Mulligan mobilizations do exactly that by keeping the range going. Listen to your chiropractor and follow directions so that your symptoms do not come back.
Believe it or not, mulligan mobilizations can be done using a dish towel. An example of a mobilization is as follows:
Fold the dish towel long ways
Place the dish towel behind the head right near the cervical spine
Slightly move your head up and then relax
This forces function outside of the upper cervical spine which helps get the joint moving.
It is so important to listen to your chiropractor and follow what they are telling you to do at home if you want your pain to go away for good.
