The ancient therapy of acupuncture is available here at Back & Body Medical in Manhattan. It is an ancient procedure originating from China and has been used to provide a wide range of health benefits to people over the course of 2000 years.

It is therefore one of the oldest procedures known to man. It has evolved over the centuries and is now used to help with other medical treatments or as an alternative.

Experience our Acupuncture in Mahattan and see how it helps relieve pain and bring harmony back to your body.

What is it used for?

It is particularly useful in treating and managing pain in the musculoskeletal, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and even osteoarthritis. Studies have shown acupuncture to be a highly effective treatment for pain.

How does it work?

Acupuncture needles are ultra-thin and solid, so they do not draw blood but are strategically placed a little under the skin’s surface. It does not hurt and most patients may experience a little sensation.

The needles (known as acupoint) are placed in regions where groups of nerves are located and sometimes the needles are manipulated a little. The goal is to help the body to release endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers and to reduce the effects of pain.

How long does treatment last?

Treatment times typically last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the patient’s condition and symptoms. The number of sessions will also depend on the patient’s condition and our acupuncturist will advise the number of sessions you will need after reviewing your condition.

Some patients may find relief after just one or two sessions while others it may take anywhere up to a dozen treatments.

Does it really work?

Acupuncture used to be considered as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, but is now a stand alone treatment. It helps greatly with pain management and works very well alongside other forms f therapy too.

We are confident our acupuncture Manhattan service will help our patients to reduce and manage their pain.
