TENs Treatment in New York

At Back & Body we have Tens Treatment New York, otherwise known as electrical stimulation. Electrical stimulation is a physical therapy modality. We may use E- Stim or TENs treatment when you have the following conditions: low back pain, post-surgical pain, muscle weakness/ poor motor control, tendonitis, or bursitis.

Tens treatment is used for various reasons in physical therapy like administering medication for inflammation, contracting muscles that are weak or not functioning well, and decreasing pain or spasm. There is some evidence where tens has even helped treat stubborn wounds.

The big question in physical therapy and chiropractic in this time is: should TENs be used? During TENs, the patient does nothing to very little at most while the treatment is being applied. You have to learn the right movements and exercises for your specific condition, and it will work better for you. This is a reason why some professionals debate whether TENs is something of value in physical therapy and chiropractic. But other studies show that it is very successful.

These are the steps of what a normal application of tens looks like, and this is what to expect:

Exposing the area of the body being treated, electrodes applied to the skin via a wire to an e-stim machine (TENs), a slight tingling sensation.

Application of electrical impulses may feel a bit uncomfortable, but they should never hurt.

If you feel pain during electrical stimulation, tell your physical therapist. He or she will adjust the treatment or discontinue its use.

TENS, Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), Russian stimulation, Interferential current, and high voltage galvanic current are all types of e-stim treatments that may be used.

If our TENs treatment New York is used, we will explain the different benefits and risks that come along with the treatment. Risks could include muscle tearing, tissue burn, or skin irritation, but are quite unlikely.

There are some alternatives to e stim, and we will be happy to go over them with you to find out what is right for your specific condition, and fully explain the risks and benefits to e-stim and TENs.
