Chiropractic Treatment for Neck Pain – an Effective Response

There’s nothing worse than a pain in the neck.  You can numb it with anti-inflammatories and pain killers, but if it’s persistent, it could be telling you there’s an underlying problem that requires chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic treatment for neck pain is a highly effective clinical response which can bring relief, rapidly and safely.  It’s a non-invasive therapy, practiced by a doctor like me.  A lot of people have questions about chiropractic treatment.  I answer those questions every day.

When neck pain persists over time, masking it with drugs isn’t the answer.  Drugs can bring only temporary relief and the damage you’re doing to your internal organs is a high price to pay for relief that isn’t permanent.

If you’re suffering from chronic neck pain, you may have tried a variety of therapies to address it, including drugs of various strengths and types.  Physical therapy can be helpful, especially when applied in concert with chiropractic treatment for neck pain.

Chiropractic methods.

Some of you reading this will believe there’s only one type of chiropractic treatment for neck pain.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  If that misconception is preventing you from seeking the help of a chiropractor, I’m here to tell you that there are some very gentle chiropractic treatments available.

Cervical spine mobilization is an extremely gentle technique in which the patient’s neck is manipulated during treatment.  This technique serves to gently address vertebrae which may have become “fixated”, limiting range of motion.

Cervical manual traction (don’t let that word frighten you – it’s not what you think) is practiced by gently and slowly manipulating the patient’s neck.  The head is slowly pulled away from the shoulders.  This serves to stretch the cervical area of the spine, varying the motion forward and then, back.

Often used in alternating therapeutic sessions in concert with cervical spine mobilization, this chiropractic treatment for neck pain gently reduces tension in the neck which causes pain.

Both these techniques are great if you’re nervous about traditional chiropractic treatment.  Patients who come to me with reservations about that famous “cracking sound” are always guided to these gentler, yet highly effective therapeutic variations.
