Dr. Dave Perna here with Back & Body, your combined care practice offering chiropractic, physical therapy, and acupuncture to people of the New York City area, we are located in Midtown Manhattan on 58th and Lex, also on US 22 in Springfield, New Jersey offering care to the people of the Union County area in New Jersey. The latest research covers two things, one research article covered 60 100 seniors and did a treadmill test on them. They found out that the people who did very well on the baseline treadmill test were 8% less likely to have senior dementia. So there is some thought to increase blood flow moving around will also increase blood flow to the brain and may decrease dementia. So this is another article that will validate that to a degree.

The second research article looks at 6000 middle-aged females. It was in relation to chronic pain which affects over 25 million people per year. They found that people who were listed or categorized as obese were two times more likely to have chronic pain than those who were found to be of normal weight. This makes sense if you think about it because with the additional weight, your putting additional load on the joints of the low back, the knees and the ankles. Things like getting out of bed, getting off a chair can often be more strenuous. Now the problem remains, what do you do if you’re already in pain and you’re trying to lose weight? There are measures for proper nutrition that will get you on a healthy eating lifestyle, but what if you also want to try to be active too? Well that’s where places like Back & Body come in handy.
