How safe are the wrappers in boxes that your food is packaged in? That’s our next topic on this Back & Body video.

Today’s study comes from Environmental Sciences and Technology (February 2017). It discussed the concerns that there can be chemicals in the wrapping packages of fast food and these wrappers can have chemicals that are harmful and can leech into the food over time. They took 400 samples of wrappers throughout the United States from various fast food companies and they found that 46% of the wrappers had 20% of the boxes that contained food to be delivered contained fluorine.
Now fluorine as prior studies have found can lead to some health problems, a number of them are, kidney and testicular cancer, low birth weight, thyroid disease, pregnancy induced high blood pressure and immune system issues for young children who are exposed to the chemical fluorine. So very much like how the BPA was banned or asked by the consumer to not provide exposure, a similar thing may happen in the near future for fluorine and you should be aware of this so that you also can be aware of the potential side effects of problems that fluorine can cause.
