Lower Your Risk for Diabetes with Light Exercise

How much activity do you need to do to reduce your risk of type II diabetes? Not that much, and we’ll talk about it on this next Back & Body video. Dr. Dave Perna here with Back & Body, your collaborative care approach for chiropractic, physical therapy and acupuncture treating people in the New York City area in Midtown, Manhattan on 58th and Lexington as well as in Springfield, New Jersey on US Route 22 servicing the people of Springfield, Summit, Milburn, Westfield, Cranford and Scotch Plains.

A recent study in the Clinical Obesity (January 2017) stated even the most mild amount of physical activity has shown medically to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes. They refer back to what’s called a Framingham Heart Study in which a small amount of physical activity was found to reduce the insulin resistance as well as reduce bio markers for inflammation. Now it is accepted that insulin resistance is responsible for a type II diabetes and bio markers are a great predictor of cardiovascular health. They said even the smallest amount of activity may help prevent diseases like cardiovascular disease as well as type II diabetes. So if you’re not active, this is another great reason to go out and be active.
